Overview
We understand the law governing lawyers and the unique challenges that lawyers face.
We regularly advise lawyers, law firms, and corporate in-house law departments on matters of legal ethics and professional responsibility, including confidentiality, conflicts of interest, fees, law office management, and multi-jurisdictional practice (also known as the unauthorized practice of law). We also represent lawyers and law firms in mergers and the purchase and sale of law practices, lawyer departures, law firm dissolutions, and winding up law practices.
We represent lawyers in disciplinary investigations and proceedings, from responding to a Request for Investigation from the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, to public proceedings before the Presiding Disciplinary Judge, to appeal to the Colorado Supreme Court.
Similarly, we represent lawyers and law firms on the many ethics issues that arise in litigation, such as motions to disqualify, motions for sanctions, motions for attorneys’ fees, and attorneys’ liens.
We also represent applicants for admission to the bar, both applicants for initial admission in Colorado and applicants who are already admitted in another jurisdiction. This includes issues in connection with applications for admission and character and fitness reviews.
We regularly advise in-house lawyers on the particular issues that arise for them, including conflicts, confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and internal investigations.
