Overview

Before there was a Breckenridge, Vail, Copper Mountain, Keystone or Steamboat ski resort, there was Christy Sports. In 1958, two skiers decided they loved the sport so much they opened a ski shop on West Colfax Avenue in Denver. Back in those days, Ed and Gale Crist spent their weekends rounding up customers in a yellow bus to head for the ski slopes.

Today, Christy Sports remains a company of dedicated skiers and riders. In the early 70s, Christy Sports followed its heart and opened stores at Copper Mountain and Vail. Being closer to the mountains meant it could be closer to the sport. The rest is pretty much history. Christy Sports now has more than 40 locations throughout the Rocky Mountains making it the largest specialty ski and snowboard retailer and snow sport service specialist in the Rocky Mountain region.

Fairfield and Woods has been proud to represent Christy Sports for more than 20 years in all of its real estate acquisitions and leases, litigation, and corporate matters, including handling its contracts, intellectual property, business acquisitions and other matters. We have worked closely with the company as it expanded into new physical locations, became one of the largest Internet sale and rental snow sport retailers, and developed an international network of affiliates.
